McMenamins Crystal Ballroom and Lola's Room |
The historic Crystal Ballroom, in all its glory, is the setting for every evening dance. Happy Feet! The Crystal Ballroom has a mechanical dance floor. As far as we know, this is the last remaining floor of its kind in the nation (and possibly the world?) The floating dance floor sits on top of ball bearings which permit the boards to give more than in a typical sprung floor. In fact, you'll find places where the floor has a full centimeter of bounce! Lola's Room, a smaller lower ballroom in the same building, also has the same type of floor mentioned and will open up on Sunday afternoon for dancers who love Hot Gypsy Jazz! |
